Alignment: Chaotic Good
Base Attack Bonus: +5
Craft (Weaponsmith): 8 ranks
Feats: Weapon Focus (Dwarven waraxe or warhammer), Toughness
Must be a member of the Hammers of Khos

Hand of Khos

 

Class Features

 

All of the following are class features of the Hand of Khos prestige class.

 

Weapon and Armor Proficiency: A Hand of Khos gains no proficiency with any weapon, armor, or shield. Armor check penalties for armor heavier than leather apply to the skills Balance, Climb, Escape Artist, Hide, Jump, Move Silently, Sleight of Hand, and Tumble, and double the normal armor check penalty applies to Swim checks.

 

Endurance: A Hand of Khos gains the Endurance feat for free.

 

Beyond Fear (Ex): Since a Hand of Khos considers himself dead, there is nothing to fear in life. A Hand of Khos is immune to fear and similar effects. He also gains a +2 insight bonus to saving throws vs. all mind-affecting spells and effects.

 

Face of Death: Due to their outlook on life and the way they tend to interact with the living, a Hand of Khos receives a -4 penalty on all social interactions with anyone who is not a Hammer of Khos.

 

Orcbane (Su): Upon reaching 2nd level, a Hand of Khos gains the ability to imbue his weapon with a the orc bane property. This effect can be used once per day and lasts a number of rounds equal to the Hand's Charisma modifier.

 

Reaching Hand (Su): A Hand of Khos who has reached 2nd level may use any axe or hammer he wields as a thrown weapon with a range increment of 20 feet, taking no additional penalties for using his weapon in this manner. This ability is usable a number of times equal to his Hand of Khos class level per day.

 

Damage Reduction (Ex): At 3rd level, a Hand of Khos gains damage reduction 2/ -. His damage reduction increases to 4/ - at 6th level, and to 6/ - at 9th level.

 

Death's Door (Ex): Beginning at 4th level, a Hand of Khos gains the ability to fight beyond his normal means, and remain concious when he would otherwise not be. When he has reached 0 hp, a Hand of Khos can fight for a number of rounds equal to his Hand of Khos class level + his Constitution modifier, or until he reaches -5 hp per Hand of Khos class level, whichever comes first. When the battle is finished, the Hand of Khos falls unconcious and cannot be awakened until his hit points rise above 0. If he has fallen below negative his Constitution in hit points, he must make a Fortitude save (DC 10 + number of hit points below his negative Constitution) or die. The Hand of Khos need not use this ability.

 

Returning Hand (Su): When a Hand of Khos has reached 4th level, any axe or hammer he throws gains the returning ability. A returning weapon flies through the air back to the Hand of Khos, returning just before his next turn, so that it is ready to throw on his next turn. Catching the weapon when it returns is a free action. If the Hand of Khos cannot catch it or if he has moved since throwing it, it falls to the ground in the square it was thrown from.

 

Undead bane (Su): When a Hand of Khos of 5th level or greater uses his Orcbane ability, the weapon in question also gains the undead bane property as well.

 

Stunning Hand (Su): A Hand of Khos who has reached 7th level may use any axe or hammer as if it possessed the stunning property. This ability is usable a number of times equal to his Hand of Khos class level per day.

 

Giantslayer (Su): When a Hand of Khos of 8th level or greater uses his Orcbane ability, the weapon in question also gains the giant bane property in addition to the undead bane and orc bane properties.

 

Hand of Khos (Su): At 10th level, a Hand of Khos has reached ultimate favor in the eyes of his deity. The personal sacrifice a Hand has made for his people manifests itself in the form of his weapon and his body. Whenever a Hand of Khos wields an axe or hammer, it now gains the holy property. In addition, the Hand of Khos becomes immune to all death magic and effects, and gains a +2 to saves vs. paralyzation, petrification, and polymorph.
