Class Features

All of the following are class features of the Chosen of Imix prestige class.

Weapon and Armor Proficiency: Chosen gain no additional proficiency in any weapon or armor.

Spells per Day: When a new Chosen level is gained, the character gains new spells per day as if he had also gained a level in a spellcasting class he belonged to before adding the prestige class. He does not, however, gain any other benefit a character of that class would have gained, except for an increased effective level of spellcasting. If a character had more than one spellcasting class before becoming a Chosen, he must decide to which class he adds the new level for purposes of determining spells per day.

Elemental Transition: Beginning at 1st level, the Chosen begins to trancend his mortal form, on the path toward becoming an elemental creature.

At 1st level the Chosen gains darkvision with a range of 60 feet.

At 3rd level the Chosen gains the ability to use any spell with the [Fire] descriptor as a domain spell.

At 5th level the Chosen gains the Energy Substitution: Fire feat for free.

At 7th level the Chosen gains the ability to Fire Stride (as per the 5th level Druid spell Tree Stride) 1/day per 2 Chosen levels.

Resistance (Ex): As the Chosen gains levels in this prestige class, he becomes more resistant to fire. At 1st level, he gains Resistance 5 against this energy form. This rises to Resistance 10 at 4th level, resistance 15 at 7th level, and complete immunity when he becomes an elemental being (at 10th level).

Elemental Focus (Ex): Beginning at 2nd level, the Chosen learns to better manipulate energy allied with the element of fire. The save DC for any spell using using fire increases +1. This rises to +2 at 5th level and +3 at 8th level. These increases are cumulative with those granted by the Spell Focus and Greater Spell Focus feats.

Elemental Penetration (Ex): Beginning at 3rd level, the Chosen refines his ability to wield energy allied with fire. When he casts a spell using that type of energy, he gains a +1 competence modifier on caster level checks (1d20 + caster level) to beat a creature’s spell resistance. At 6th level, this modifier increases to +2, and at 9th level it increases to +3. These increases are cumulative with those granted by the Spell Penetration and Greater Spell Penetration feats.

Elemental Perfection: At 10th level the Chosen, through long association with the elemental entities of Imix and extensive study of their secrets, completely trancends his mortal form to become an elemental creature. His type changes to “elemental” which means (among other things) that he is no longer affected by spells that specifically target humanoids, such as charm person. He gains an elemental creature’s immunity to poison, sleep, paralysis, and stunning and is no longer subject to critical hits or flanking.

The Chosen gains the speed and movement modes, special attacks, and special qualities of a medium elemental of fire, as noted in the Monster Manual, except that the save DC against his elemental attack, if any, is 20 + his Constitution modifier.

Upon achieving this state, the Chosen’s appearance undergoes another minor physical change, usually to the skin or eyes. Anyone who shares the Chosen’s predilection for the study of Fire immediately recognizes his transcendant nature. He gains a +2 circumstance modifier on all Charisma-based skill and ability checks when interacting with creatures of Fire, as well as with other Chosen.

Elemental perfection is not without cost. The Chosen can be hedged out by a magic circle spell against his alignment. He also takes double damage from energy attacks of cold unless the attack allows a saving throw for half damage, in which case he takes half damage even on a successful save.
