Here is some information on the various classes upon Aelor and how they fit into the world.
Barbarians: Almost all barbarians are human and half-elven horselords from the the Plains of Pel, and even the Southern Wastes, although there have been known to be tribes of nomadic half-orcs that roam the vast expanses north of the Hammerhead Mountains.
Bards: Bards are much loved throughout the Kingdom, and have much respect from commoners and nobles alike. A good bard will never want for a meal or a bed, even on the Lonely Road.
Clerics: All clerics are devotees to one of Aelor’s many deities. A few main religions dominate the civilized world, although there are many cults and cabals of lesser power (usually hidden) throughout the land. Structured religion is sparse in wilder lands, though pilgrims and missionaries are always attempting to spread their God’s word.
Druids: Druids are one of the most mysterious groups of people on Aelor. They are quite secretive and some can be a bit xenophobic. They seem to have some sort of loose organization, and it is said they can identify one another in any form.
Fighters: From mercenaries to orders of knighthood, those skilled in protection and warfare are never want for work, whether it be for coin, or for honor.
Monks: Monks are quite rare in the Kingdom, and those that are found hail from the eastern mountains, where many Orders dwell in the privacy of rocky strongholds.
Holy Warriors: Sometimes religious to the extreme, holy warriors constantly crusade for their deity’s beliefs. Almost all belong to an order or caste, and are treated with the utmost respect by all but the most foolish.
Rangers: Very little is known about the true nature of rangers. Only the druids, whom they sometimes work with, are more mysterious. The wood elves are almost nonhostile to these skilled men and women of the wild.
Rogues: Rogues can be urban thieves or forest bandits, as well as unlikely heroes. There are many loose organizations to assist in the movement of goods and the rendering of ‘services’. It would be hard pressed to find anything resembling a structured guild, however, save perhaps in the remaining city-states of the North, although it is whispered that even in the city of Arstelon there is one such secretive group.
Sorcerers: These users of the raw Ether are a force to be reckoned with. With no laws or rules to hinder them, they shape eldritch energy to their will, sometimes at the peril of their lives… some are said to draw energy from demons and devils to supplement their power. Both wizards and sorcerers are viewed as one and the same by most.
Wizards: These learned and wise scholars persue their ancient and arcane study into the focus of Ether. Most are concerned the with science and theory of magic as opposed to ultimate power, either for good or ill. Both wizards and sorcerers are viewed as one and the same by most.
Prestige Classes: Many of those who pursue the lesser classes eventually become skilled and learned in unusual powers.
